Differrences

[edit]

I have watched the dvd and the original aired version today. These are different cuts. For example the scene while jeremy is weeing in the river is only on the dvd version. Also there are different cuts when james is advising his car ("in the adword is was saying it's blue"). My english is too bad to write it in the article. Maybe someone do the move :o) ? --77.187.219.218 (talk) 10:21, 21 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Technically speaking, the DVD version likely features scenes that were cut from the original broadcast. As such, such information needs to be earmarked as part of a section detailing the DVD of the special. That is something that should be researched by editors, if they have the time to do so. Were some of the shots staged?

[edit]

* The "Death Road" Footage of Clarkson needing to overtake a white four wheel drive was clearly staged. You may notice the way it is cut allows for this, but also the mountain changing sides from Clarkson's left to Clarkson's right in the preceding and subsequent shots of him driving.. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 110.175.11.238 (talkcontribs) 06:33, 15 April 2010 * None of this is evidence, it is all your own interpretation. Besides, if it was staged - so what? It is standard practice that the bits shown before and after the incident itself may have been cut together from an entirely different part of the journey. (Immediately after the passing, before any other shot, it goes dark so it's clearly a different time - have you watched this?!!) Halsteadk (talk) 10:23, 15 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There is plenty of evidence showing the danger of this road including reviews of other traveller's experience on the Muerte en el camino passing other vehicles. The overall experience surely must not be doubted. I will be visiting myself in late July 2010 having covered the route backwards. Mario.costasa (talk) 19:21, 15 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

In a few hours it will be august. we can only assume he/she didn't survive the drive. RIP.

It's a TV entertainment program. Most of it is staged. Clarkson was never in any danger whatsoever. This whole article reads as if it was written by a 12 year old, or someone who believes that characters in soaps are real people! 86.154.193.203 (talk) 08:51, 2 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Having just viewed the program, I spent a few minutes cleaning up the article. While there's still room for improvement, I believe my editing largely addressed the "written by a 12 year old" comment above. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.255.163.73 (talk) 22:53, 9 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

: Speaking of a staged programme, why does the article not mention what sort of vehicle the crew drove? A silver car is apparent in some shots. --Svippong 21:45, 21 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This sentence:
"They tried to take a straight route into Chile over the Guallatiri active volcano"
also needs changed because:
a) they were already in Chile by that point
b) Volcan Guallatiri is wholly within Chile. Accessing it from Bolivia would cause a border crossing legality issue
c) It isn't a shortcut, it was a staged excursion (well, the voiceover was staged to be dramatic, though geographically incorrect). It's out of the way to anywhere to take the jeep road to Guallatiri. You can't drive "over" a nineteen thousand foot mountain in the Cordillera Occidental! The old road is drivable to 5200m and dead ends high on the base (from which an acclimated and experienced mountaineer can climb the mountain the following day). They production team probably made it that far (in reality, not in the edited footage), but either way it's a sidetrip.

Whether this program is staged or not, this subject should never have been part of the Talk Discussion. Consider this closed from this point onwards. GUtt01 (talk) 23:15, 5 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Following Issues in Article need addressing

[edit]

The following requires immediate addressing by any willing Editors:

  • 1. Vehicle Section - Requires deletion as has no relevance in a separate section; this can be easily done as part of a summary of the episode itself.
  • 2. DVD - Information needs to be found in regards to whether the special episode received a DVD. If this is the case, the information for this should include the DVD's release date, and what content was included (particularly if it was cut from the original broadcast)
  • 3. Filming - Who was involved, planning of the route, and so forth.

Please help with this as soon as possible. Thank you.

(P.S. Please refrain from using Talk Pages as a forum. This is supposed to be used to discuss about the article's content, not on whether, for example, some scenes in the episode were staged.)
